Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word "YOGA' derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.
As a part of International Yoga Day Department of Physical Education and Department of Sanskrit of Govt. College of Teacher Education celebrated International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2023. The importance of Yoga was emphasised in the programme.
The program started at 9:30a.m. First B-Ed Sanskrit student Anakha.P Ajay recited the prayer. The program was hosted by Reshma Rajesh, a first B-Ed Sanskrit student.
Rosh Kumar Sir, Head of Physical Education Department,
delivered the welcome speech.
Principal of GCTE Dr. AV Sujith sir delivered the Presidential address. Then first year students Devika P.S and Reshma Rajesh gave a theme presentation on the Importance of yoga. The head of the Commerce Department, Dr. Issac paul sir delivered the felicitation 1 B. Ed sanskrit student Anakha P.Ajay delivered the vote of thanks.
A poster making competition also conducted as a part of international yoga day at 2 PM, Poster making competition was organized by dividing each department into each group. Dr VK Santhosh Kumar sir and Jolly Teacher were the judges of the poster making competition. The poster making competition went very well with the cooperation of all the student teachers.
The prize distribution of poster making competition was held on July 11.
Natural Science got the first prize,Second Prize for Commerce and Tamil,third Prize for Social Science and Fourth Prize for English. The awarding ceremony was held in the assembly held on July 11 under the auspices of the teachers.
